As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines
Manuscripts must adhere to the requirements of the style guidelines and citation rules.
Manuscripts must be submitted on the understanding that they, or significant parts of them, have not been published elsewhere and are not currently under consideration by another journal or another publisher. Publications in short form, which have been presented along the lines of a conference do not count as prior publication.
The submitting authors are responsible for ensuring that the article’s publication has been approved for publication in the BJAS by all the other co-authors. Co-authors have all made a significant contribution to the submitted paper and persons who have made a significant contribution must be named as authors. Honorary authorship is not permitted. Persons who have made comments or recommendations for the contribution may be mentioned in the Acknowledgements section. It must also be ensured that the articles emanating from a particular institution are submitted with the approval of the responsible institution.
We require one version with information concerning the authors (1) and one blind manuscript for the reviewers (2). Any information which could identify the authors are to be removed. It is a condition of submission that the authors permit editing of the paper for readability.
Style Guidelines
Manuscripts should be submitted in English and are expected to be in standard Microsoft Word format (*.doc/*.docx). Automatic hyphenation must be disabled. Do not use nonbreaking spaces. You might also submit a paper in German although we encourage you to publish in English in order to reach a broader audience.
General rules for writing:
Use simple and declarative sentences, try to avoid long sentences, in which the meaning may be lost by complicated construction;
Be concise, avoid idle words;
Make your argumentation complete; use commonly understood terms; define all non-standard symbols and abbreviations when you introduce them; try to keep Jargon to a minimum and use it only where needed;
Words in other languages should be put in italics; it is suggested that the English translation of the words can be found in a separate index or be explained in the text;
Explain all acronyms and abbreviations when they first appear in the text;
Units of measurement should be presented simply and concisely using System International (SI) units.
The title should be concise and informative. Please also provide an abbreviated form of the title.
Abstract
Every article must be accompanied by an abstract. It should be a brief summary of the significant elements of the main text body. The abstract should provide concise information about background and aims, as well as convey the main results and conclusions. It should not exceed 250 words. Please note that it cannot contain any literature citations or refer to tables or illustrations. All non-standard symbols and abbreviations must be defined. Authors should keep in mind that online systems strongly rely on the content of titles and abstracts to identify articles in electronic bibliographic databases and search engines. Hence, appropriate effort should be used in preparing these text elements.
Keywords
Please provide a list of up to 5 keywords, separated by commas. Repetition of the title should be avoided.
Main text body
The text of the main body should not exceed 7.000 words. It typically includes at least an introduction, an explanation of methodology, the results and the conclusions.
Acknowledgments
Acknowledgments are to be integrated in the manner determined by your citation style, such as the first footnote or third paragraph. Include in this section the names of others contributing to the work who are not identified as authors. The corresponding author is asked to obtain permission to refer to those mentioned in the Acknowledgments section.
Conflicts of interest statement
A competing interest exists when professional judgement concerning the validity of research is influenced by secondary interests, such as financial gain. We require that our authors reveal any possible conflict of interests in their submitted manuscripts.
If there is no conflict of interests, authors should state that “The authors declare that there is no conflict of interests regarding the publication of this paper.”
Contributions are recommended to be submitted in English. German contributions will be considered, too.
Deadlines
The deadline for submission of contributions is July 31st of a given year. Submitters will be informed about whether their paper will be accepted for review until the mid of august. Reviewers assess papers within a timeframe of two months. At the end of october the authors will be notified if their contributions have been accepted for publication. Contributions are revised during the month of November and published in January.
Fees
There are no article processing charges (APC).
Copyright Notice
All submissions must adhere to German copyright law and should be reviewed by the author according to the Fair Use Doctrine. The BJAS will not be held responsible for violations of copyright law by the authors. The principal editors ask all editors, reviewers and authors to adhere to the DIT’s guidelines for Good Scientific Practice.
